Kanye West just secured the first ever dimaond certification of his career., which is surprising for an artist of his size.
The rapper’s 2007 hit ‘Stronger’ has been certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after surpassing 10 million sales in the United States.
“Kanye West’s ‘Stronger’ is now @RIAA certified DIAMOND! Congratulations to Yeezy and the entire team,” tweeted Def Jam on Wednesday (October 6).”
Kanye West released Stronger 14 years ago as the second single off Graduation. The song reportedly mixed 75 times sampled Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” The video was a game changer as well and helped usher in the era of shutter shades. You just had to be there.
“Stronger” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also earned Kanye West a Grammy Award win in the Best Rap Solo Performance category in 2008.
