Pusha T Has fulfilled His contract obligations to Def Jam and will officially leave the label after the release of his fourth album.
On Thursday (January 27), the Virginia rapper shared a photo of a contract that had fans initially wondering if he had left G.O.O.D. Music.
“Some people call you their brother, other people show you you’re BROTHERS,” he wrote before thanking Kanye West. “Thanx ‘Yezos…’ @kanyewest.”
However his manager Steven Victor, confirmed to Complex that the contract marks the end of Pusha’s relationship with Def Jam, and not G.O.O.D.
“[He’s still with] G.O.O.D. Music, he’s just not signed to Def Jam anymore,” explained Victor. “This is his last album on Def Jam.”
Victor didn’t rule out resigning with Def Jam in the future, but he made it clear to note that Pusha T is still riding with Ye.
“I mean, we might re-sign with Def Jam, I’m just saying he fulfilled his contract obligation,” Victor added. “He might re-sign with Def Jam, it’s just the whole point of it is that he’s still with Kanye regardless to wherever he ends up with his next projects. It will be with Kanye.”
Additionally, Victor says King Push now owns his masters, thanks to Ye.
Pusha T is in album mode and is scheduled to drop his new album, the follow-up to 2018’s Daytona later this year.
