Rick Ross is being sued by an underground rapper for allegedly jacking his “Maybach Music” catchphrase.
Ishaq R. Muhammad also known as Young Muhammad claims Rozay stole the “Maybach Music” phrase from his 2007 track Caprice Music. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Muhammad says he featured Rick Ross on his Caprice Music single, which was where Ross got the inspiration for “Maybach Music” that he’s been using ever since.
Muhammad claims Rick Ross replaced Caprice, which is a type of car, with his car of choice and boom … Maybach Music was born. He also claims he trademarked the phrase in 2006, long before Ross started running with it.
YM has reportedly taking Rozay to a small claims court and he wants $9, 999 for theft of his intellectual property. He’s also suing Roc Nation for endorsing Maybach Music.
