Even before receiving The Funny One award, a comedian from Novaliches was making waves on social media. With his illogical humor and loud comments, Ryan Rems Sarita, or “Rakistang Komikero,” has become an internet celebrity.
Sarita talked about his life before being “interesting” in an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com. Here are a few facts about Sarita that you might not know:
His mother does not find him amusing.
Sarita had a legion of followers even before he was voted the overall winner of The Funny One for his unique method of making jokes, the majority of which were about people’s everyday lives. He did admit, though, that his own mother did not find him amusing.
“Actually, ‘yung nanay ko Hindi siya natatawa sa akin,” says the narrator. He referred to Diego and Gedent’s father-son duo as “Paborito niya Crazy Duo.” His ambition is to work as a television writer.
Sarita said he was fortunate to be able to apply for writing jobs at numerous stations. He ended up auditioning for The Funny One because there were no vacancies at the time.
“Tapos, nag-apply ako ditto bilang writer, sabi nila walang writer vacancy,’so nagstand-up comedy ka pala may audition for kami shortly,” he explained.
Sarita’s ability for singing was uncovered after he competed in a televised singing competition, which was no surprise to his supporters. He’s also appeared on It’s Showtime, where he showed off his skills.
He was also a member of the band, but it disbanded because they felt they sounded better in the studio than when they performed live.
“May banda ako dati, at iniwan ko ‘yung banda ko kasi mas magaling kami sa studio kesa sa live,” says the singer.
He enjoys reading about the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Sarita, a music buff, also reads about musical legends such as The Beatles and Elvis Presley, which he claims helps him interact with fans.
“Kung paano i-handle ‘yung popularity, kung paano mag-handle ng audience, medyo mahilig akong magbasa tungkol sa buhay nina elvis, the beatles.” ‘Never let the fans down,’ sabi niya, natutunan ko rin kay the late charming Rick Rude,” Sarita stated.
Former call center agent and online English teacher
He used to work as a call center agent, according to Sarita, but only for a brief time. He was an online English teacher before joining It’s Showtime.
Sarita graduated from Centro Escolar University with a degree in Communication Arts.
