Holstar returns with his first solo project of the year 2021, and third in total.
Following joint projects with Dominant 1 (‘African Diamond’) and (‘Throwbacks And Heartbreaks’) with Ariel. Veteran Zambian rapper, Holstar is closing out the year with a new EP titled “Dreams Never Die.” Released on Friday (November 19), the new 5-track effort opens up with the introspective ‘Days Of Old’ featuring Spoken Word Poet, Destro. From there he imagines falling in love (“Dreaming”), and croons about his shortcomings on ‘The Worst.’
The EP also includes contributions from J-Hun, Kelvin Sarrz, Paul Makes Magic, Killa, and Paul Kruz,
“On my previous projects, I’d literally just get a bunch of beats and just record. But this time I looked at people I had worked with before. I kind of head-hunted them and said ‘These are the specific people I want to work with’, I wanted people who were able to convey my emotions on the beat, so we made the beats from scratch. I sent these producers references and they were able to make beats that fit the mood,” Said Holstar in a statement.
With more than 20 projects overall under his belt, Holstar is ready to experiment more with his sound. On “Dreams Never Die,” the East African showcases his artistic growth with subject matter that appeals to his love of music.
“I’ve done Hip-Hop for a long time…I felt like I needed to tap into something that’s been sleeping within me. I wanted to do something to show the world that I’m more than just a Hip-Hop artist…I’m a versatile musician. I’m simply someone that loves music and is able to express himself and communicate in different ways,” he added.
